
I have come to the conclusion I am the Starbucks of R.E photography.
While reloading my Starbucks account (at $100 a crack) the comparisons seemed uncanny.
There may better (more expensive) boutique photographers out there, there are definitely cheaper photography alternatives for agents to choose from.
I don’t lower my price or quality to compete with inferior competitors.
I supply a high quality and consistent product.
I have educated my clients in the value of consistency in quality images, quality tours, quality service and professionalism. I understand my competition and stay on top of the industry trends.
Consistency is king, there are things I hate about Starbucks, no trashcans in drive thru’s, and terrible snacks. But I love the consistency of my Venti Americano with 6 pumps of toffee nut flavor no matter where I go in the world.
I value this consistency and I am willing to pay a premium for it. I realize I can get a decent cup at McDonalds or Dunkin (at a much cheaper price) but I pay a small fortune for consistency.
The same can be said for my service in the RE photography industry, agents are frustrated with a few flaws at VHT but are willing to work round it to get my professionalism, attention to detail and consistency. These agents realize they have cheaper options that can supply adequate images but they pay a premium for the consistency I supply.
I also understand that like Starbucks my method is scalable. Not all Starbucks locations will generate the revenue of the Chicago miracle mile location; But Downers grove Starbucks attracts a level of customer who values consistency enough to pay a bit more for coffee then at their local Mcdonalds.
No matter what your business model looks like create your Starbucks franchise within the RE photography industry under VHT’s umbrella.
